Datashift is a rapidly growing consultancy team with a focus on delivering solutions that answer business questions with data and facts. In early 2025, we opened an office in Rotterdam to further strengthen our support for clients in the Netherlands and drive our continued growth.
Opportunity
To support one of our fastest growing practices (i.e. Data Governance & Quality), we are looking for a skilled Data Engineer. In this role, you will play a crucial role in helping our clients unlock the full value of their data by implementing robust governance frameworks and optimizing data management & quality processes.
Responsibilities
Advise and support clients on data governance best practices – Implement data governance by design / shift left, embedding policies, data quality, and access controls early in the data lifecycle. Integrate governance into data pipelines and platforms using workflows, automation, CI/CD, and tools like Collibra, Purview, or custom frameworks.
Automate the capture of technical metadata and lineage from source systems into data governance platforms like (e.g. Collibra).
Advise and support the implementation of data quality tools such as Collibra Data Quality, Soda, Monte Carlo, or Great Expectations.
Build maintainable data solutions – e.g. metadata pipelines, data profiling scripts, data classification jobs.
Job requirements
Qualifications
2-5 years of experience – Background in data management, analytics, engineering, or BI, with an interest in transitioning into or deepening expertise in data governance.
Consulting & client engagement skills – Preferably, experience working with external clients (or internal stakeholders) to assess requirements, deliver solutions, and support change management.
Hands-on experience with data governance platforms – Experience with Collibra or similar platforms is a plus.
Technical proficiency – Familiarity with SQL, APIs, and data integration concepts (e.g. ELT); experience with scripting (Python, Groovy, Activiti/Flowable) for workflow automation is considered a plus.
Communication – Fluent in English and Dutch.
